Yesterday I got an email from a friend that linked to a news page ….The report wrote..:
“A fire has caused considerable damage in kitchen of the Basque restaurant Mugaritz, one of the world’s most prestigious eateries run by chef Andoni Luis Aduriz.
Fire broke out at around 2am owing to a short-circuit in the area of the kitchen.
The fire which broke out in the two Michelin starred-restaurant, located in the Gipuzkoan town of Errenteria, meant the inhabitants of an adjoining farmhouse had to be evacuated.
Firefighters needed a total of five sets of equipment to fight the blaze, which took two hours to completely put out. Flames principally affected the kitchen area.
Andoni Luis Aduriz is one of the Basque Country’s most internationally-acclaimed chefs and his restaurant is always listed among the best in the world.”
These news were not only shocking but also a sad reminder of how truly devastating a loss of property can be financially as well as emotionally…There was something lost in that fire … The disaster is just news.. It could have been a flood, an earthquake, it could have been any cause… in this case it was a fire ,an unpredictable shortfall of an electric circuit … What matters now is what happens after the dust settles, the aftermath…
Having faced such tragedy in the past the words simply evade me at this moment … All i can say is that it is painful to lose property, because some property is simply impossible to recover…
I am more than convinced that the restaurant will move forward … Andoni is such a talented chef, he could not be possibly left out … Maybe this is the opportunity for a fresh start and a new beginning ..The Mugaritz website seems to send a clear message …: “The reconstuction begins from the foundations..”
