Food always finds a way , doesn’t it….? Two Chicago chefs who turned down the chance to open a restaurant in Las Vegas so they could take over a grill advertised on Craigslist ,opened what became one of the hottest spots in the country .The name is TownHouse and if you haven’t heard about it yet lets just say you should find your way to Chilhowie, a small town in Virginia..Today, the highly sophisticated food John Shields, 32, and his fiancée, Karen Urie, 31, serve at the Town House is drawing diners from around the country. And also chefs from across the board that all have only good things to say about the food (Thanks Sean Brock for pointing the way again)….
Recently the press is catching up with the buzz and small town is again big thanks to the Townhouse and NY Times ….
It is great to see that Virginia has its share of creative Juggernauts out there , and the Town house along with Local roots cafe the Red Hen and a handful of others are responsible …Farms people, food, all for the love of food…
So if you ever wanted to visit a great restaurant (those we use to call grand restaurant with french accent back in the day) maybe skip DC and NY and visit the local heros …. Local , Sustainable, avant garde food… What else can one ask for..?
If you want more here is the link for NY Times<
