In the past few weeks we have been buying and planting herbs to use for our home cooking and our on going test kitchen experiments…. It is so unnecessary to buy herbs from a store when you can produce them in your own backyard or patio … The list of our herbs is limited for now and includes Oregano , 2 varieties of mint, basil and rosemary… The future plans include
Lemon basil and bush basil (Greek basil)
African blue basil
greek sage and black currant sage
Some cress varieties and borage along with less known herbs are always in our scope… For know we are planning of adding Greek basil and some thyme to complete the classic variety for now … Our condominium has also some space but we do not have enough room for everything we want to do but enough to move forward with more plants ….
Not only the fresh herbs will enhance our cooking but also become solid bases for experimenting with drinks …Mojitos taste so much better with fresh cut mint…..The dittany is a tea like herb native to parts of Crete… I can not stress how much purslane can add to a greek salad….Not to mention adding fresh cut basil to food straight from the garden…
